According to the WSEF co-founder GM *D*, Richard S. Bustillo is considered to be one of his early archetypes & mentors in the field of Filipino Martial Arts. GM Richard S. Bustillo first stimulated GM *D*s keen interest in FMA as far back as 1980, in Ohio when the two first officially met at a "Jeet Kune Do/Kali" seminar in which GM *D* sponsored & hosted.

Assisting GM Bustillo at this particular first of it's kind workshop in the Mid-West, was the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto. At one point in time both GM Bustillo & Guro Dan Inosanto trained under the legendary 'King of Kung Fu' Bruce Lee.
In addition to both martial arts stars training from Bruce Lee, they both also studied the art of Serrada Escrima under the notorious 'stick/knife fighter' 'Supreme Grand Master Angel Cabales.
SGM Angel Cabales is considered to be the "Father of Escrima in America".

Presenting this very special WSEF Honorary Grand Masters Award was another American martial arts pioneer: Professor Ron Lew. Prof. Lew is an internal Gung Fu Master in his own right & he also holds a 6th. Degree rank status within the 'Doce Pares System of Eskrima' under *Supreme Grand Master* Cocoy Canete of the Philippines.
Professor Ron Lew
Professor Ron Lew was born in Nov.2, 1944, San Francisco, California. He is Third Generation Chinese American, and equally proud of being of the one-hundred seventy first generation of twentieth clan generation from Kwangtung southern China. He was raised and still lives in San Jose, California.
Professor Ron Lew is an active and dedicated Martial Artist. In addition to his Eighth Degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo Fi Kuen under GM Ted Sotelo, he is a Master Sixth Degree Black Belt in Doce Pares Eskrima under Great Grand Master Cacoy Canete, an Elite Black Belt in Latigo y Daga and a Senior Advisor to Wun Hop Kuen Do.
