"Guro Michael Schwarz is an excellent Escrima teacher and practitioner. This book teaches the first level of the GGM Angel Cabales/GM Anthony Davis system of Serrada Escrima. It teaches all the basic movement to make you successful in this art. You first learn the salute and then right into the 12 angels of attack. This book has a lot of pictures and explanations of those pictures that really help you learn the basics of this system. Once you learn the basic single stick techniques, Guro Schwarz teach you the empty hand translation to everything you learned with a sticks. The empty hand translations of the stick techniques isn’t something I have seen very much of. Guro Schwarz teaches straight forward combat in his book, and not flash and flare which has become so common now a days. I for one can’t wait until the next level is published." "Highly skilled, and a complete professional in every sense of the word", that's how I would briefly describe SM Guro Mike Schwarz.   That wouldn't do him justice however, because his diverse level of knowledge and experience in the martial arts isn't easy to define.  His teaching techniques are very efficient, and he finds a way to incorporate new lessons very naturally.  His in depth knowledge of differing styles allows him to recognize and explain the broader picture and purpose of each new technique or lesson.  His instruction never becomes stale, and he maintains his student's attention without superficial methods, or at the risk of compromising the art of Serrada Escrima.  My family and I have been extremely blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to train with Guro Mike Schwarz.

  I have only been with Guro Michael Schwarz for a little over 6 months. Guro Mike has laid out a program that is clear, concise and easy to follow. His lessons are done in such a manner that the technique is done at a reduced speed to show the proper body positioning and striking angle. This is then followed up with the technique being repeated in real time. During the initial demonstration Guro Mike breaks down the subtleties of the body positioning so there is no confusion for the student. This makes for a lesson that is easy to follow.
